ABOUT
My name is Iuly Burdin, and I am a children’s book illustrator and paper engineer with a passion for creating imaginative and interactive worlds, originally from Ukraine and now living in Germany since 2022. My experience extends beyond traditional illustration, as I specialize in paper engineering and designing pop-up books that bring stories to life in a three-dimensional, tactile way.
I didn’t have the opportunity to study illustration, I graduated MSc of metal-cutting machines and
tools DNTU and have over 10 years working experience as an engineer in the metallurgical industry, where art never left me. My passion for 3D modeling evolved into a deep interest in creating interactive pop-up books, combining my technical skills with my love for storytelling and illustration.
My artistic style spans animals, characters, educational themes, and fairy-tale elements, and I draw inspiration from my travels and my love of family. Countries like England, France, and Germany—especially their old buildings and castles—serve as constant sources of creative influence.
Though all of the works in my portfolio are not yet published, they are eagerly awaiting the right project to bring them to life. I would love the opportunity to discuss any upcoming projects, commissions, or collaborations where my skills in illustration and paper engineering could help create something truly magical for children.
